Hi SAP Guru,

I am getting the following error in the Step "Install instance basics of ASCS00" while installing SAP ECC 6.0 EHP8 on windows 2016 server:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An error occurred while processing option SAP Business Suite 7i 2016 > EHP8 for SAP ERP 6.0 ABAP > MS SQL Server > System Copy > Target System > Distributed System > Based on AS ABAP > ASCS Instance(Last error reported by the step: Process call '\\?\Volume{997ed0aa-c551-11e8-8763-0050569d54df}\ECP\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\sapcpe.exe stdoutput pf=\\SAPASCSECP/sapmnt/ECP/SYS/profile/ECP_ASCS00_SAPASCSECP list:\\?\Volume{997ed0aa-c551-11e8-8763-0050569d54df}\\ECP\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64/scs.lst' exits with error code -1. For details see log file(s) sapcpe_sapinst.log). You can now:

  • Choose Retry
    to repeat the current step.
  • Choose Log Files
to get more information about the error.
  • Stop the option and continue later.

Log files are written to C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/BS2016/ERP608/MSS/COPY/SYSTEM/DISTRIBUTED/AS-ABAP/ASCS

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The SAPINST.log file is attached for your reference. Please let me know where I am doing wrong.

SWPM 1.0 SP23 has been used to install SAP ECC.

From the logs you have supplied I can see that the file icuuc50.dll, icudt50.dll and icuin50.dll were extracted to C:/usr/sap/ECP/SYS/exe/uc/NTAMD64. Check if they are still there and then manually trigger the sapcpe command against the ASCS profile.I can see C:\usr\sap\ECP\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64 is part of the PATH variable so it should be some other problem. Any reason why you installing in the C drive?

Hello Sheo,

Please check the comment provided by Reagan :

>> \\?\Volume{997ed0aa-c551-11e8-8763-0050569d54df}\ECP\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\sapcpe.exe stdoutput pf=\\SAPASCSECP/sapmnt/ECP/SYS/profile/ECP_ASCS00_SAPASCSECP list:\\? <<

Not sure why you have \\?\Volume{997ed0aa-c551-11e8-8763-0050569d54df} in the path of the sapcpe.exe command. Maybe that could be the reason. I would say cleanup the existing installation and download the latest SWPM and start the installation again. Run sapinst from an elevated command prompt.

The screen shot above was taken after setting the environment variable “NLSUI_INIT_TRACE_LEVEL” and then starting the SWPM (SAPINST).

Hi,

This installation it for SAP LAMA scenario and there is a need to install it on C: drive as part of the SAP LAMA pre-requisite.

All the required files are in EXE folder and I have set all kind of environment variables including PATH as well. When I am executing manual command for SAPCPE there is no error but SAPINST is giving error. Even when I installing the Database it is reulting in same ICU error while all the files in the EXE directory. The Database Installation also result in the following error:

Execution of the command "\\?\Volume{997ed0aa-c551-11e8-8763-0050569d54df}\ECP\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\dipgntab.exe -rwr40 -srctt DDNTT -srctf DDNTF -dsttt DDNTT -dsttf DDNTF -ttonly TT" finished with return code -1. Output: Could not open the ICU common library.

The common thing in both of them is "java.exe" has the following entry:

INFO: Starting to transform 'TroubleTicketResults.xml' to 'LogAnalyzer.html' using stylesheet 'C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir\BS2016\ERP608\MSS\COPY\SYSTEM\DISTRIBUTED\AS-ABAP\DB\REPORTING\OverallStatus.xsl'. INFO: Input parameters: instana_xml=C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir\BS2016\ERP608\MSS\COPY\SYSTEM\DISTRIBUTED\AS-ABAP\DB\INSTANA.XML keydb_xml=C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir\BS2016\ERP608\MSS\COPY\SYSTEM\DISTRIBUTED\AS-ABAP\DB\keydb.xml

status=error

Please do let me know if anyone has faced such issue in the past.

Hi Sheo,

the current error is below one:

Could not open the ICU common library. The following files must be in the path described by the environment variable "PATH": icuuc50.dll, icudt50.dll, icuin50.dll

The variable PATH is currently set to:

C:\Users\sapadmin\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps;;C:\usr\sap\ECP\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64;C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\Binn\;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\Binn\;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Binn\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\Binn\ManagementStudio\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Binn\;C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\Binn\;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\Binn\;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Binn\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\Binn\ManagementStudio\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Binn\;C:\Users\sapadmin\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps

Please ensure that the PATH environment variable is correctly set to the directory where the ICU libraries are located.
