XI Alert management

Hi,

We've configured our PI to collect mail alerts (base on http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/00e97ba2-85ce-2b10-20bc-bc05cd172154&override....

when a new rule (at Runtime Workbench->Alert Configuration) is being created and PI error is being generated (by sending a "broken" message via RWB "Test Message"), relevant alert is being "collected" and mail is being send.

observation: all required configurations were successfully performed.

yet, i can not reproduce this scenario. the only way is to delete the rule and re-create it and then send "broken" message), which obviously unnecessary.

what am i missing?

Regards

Uri

Do you mean to say that you are getting only one Alert Message for your Interface?

If yes then uncheck the Suppress Multiple Alerts of Same Rule checkbox in RWB --> Alert Configuration.

It can be used when you want to avoid flooding of your Inbox with alerts of the same interface.

Say if you know that the XI/ PI system is going to be down then you can have this option checked so that only one alert comes.

If the support person is constantly monitoring his/ her inbox and reading (completing)/ deleting the alert then you can have this checkbox unchecked checked.

there is no blog on this but there is amention in help section for this...check if that provides any more input to you:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/EN/56/d5b54020c6792ae10000000a155106/content.htm

From above link:
If the Suppress Multiple Alerts of This Rule checkbox is selected (default setting), then no further alerts are generated once the
rule has been met until the first alert has been confirmed.

So to keep on receiving alerts from the same interface (keeping the option unchecked) you need to keep on confirming the alert from the Alert Inbox.

Abhishek.

U need to do following for ALERT RULE in alert configuration of RWB -

1) Check Rule Active

2) Uncheck Suppress Multiple Alerts of This Rule - if this is checked u will receive message only once. i think u must have checked it.

Please uncheck it and test.

Best Regards
