Use the type Dialog, or can I use the type Service for a FF ID?

Former Member

Hello,

I have a doubt about the user ID type I have to use for the FF ID.

Do I have to use the type Dialog, or can I use the type Service?

The problem that I have is that the dialog user have to change the password every 15 day more or less. I will have more than 20 FF ID in the system

I use SAP GRC AC 5.3.

Best Regards.

As of SP7 password configuration is not needed anymore for Firefighter ID's. Each time a FF logs on the password is reset on the background. So both DIALOG or SERVICE type will work.

In an old forum message I read that some ABAP activities are not possible if the user type is set to SERVICE.

Hi Pablo,

Firefighter IDs should be set as Service users so that their passwords do not expire.

You should also check to ensure the user exit is in place to prevent direct logon with FFIDs - see SAP Note 992200.

Pablo,

Simon is 100% right. You must configure FF ID as service user and make sure to put user exit in place so no-one can login to SAP system directly by using FF ID.

Hi Pablo,

Which SP level you are on ? Check the release notes, with SP7 onwards you can use Service Type users as FF IDs

Cheers !!
