Flow types

We need the transaction type/movement type details from ECC to be brought over to BPC.

Is the BPC dimension' Flow' is the best field to hold this data?

Has some has experience on flow type..appreciate your inputs..

Flow would work; but any dimension would work.

You have to think about alternative uses of the flow dimension such as cash flow and currency translation detail etc. before you decide to blindly copy trans types to flow.

Hi Tara,

Thanks for the answer.. For the currency translation, cash flow details only I am planning to insert FLOw Typle.

Does FLOW dimension addition impact any of the logic package or settting of currency translation. If there any peculiar setting changes I have to make as a result of inserting flow type in application..

Most of the data will not have flow types...what is the best default flow type for this..

Yes it will have an impact depending on where the flow types are used (Income stmnt or BS); generally all bs is translated at the eom rate but depending on the break down - for instance in fixed assets, you would want the beginning balance and the activity translated but not the ending balance...that's what you should keep in mind when you determine whether you need to make the business rules for currency translation to be flow specific or not.

All items without a flow should be assigned one - f_none or f_clo....depending on how you structure your flow hierarchy.

Hope that clarifies.

HI Tara,

I also have a doubt concerning flow types. It seems that in BPC we need to calculate the closing flow (F_CLO), in order to have the total balance. Is this true? For example if you have the following situation:

Account Mov.Type Balance

A45001 Open Balance (F_100) 1000

A45001 Increase (F_120) 200

A45001 Decrease (F_140) -50

The system needs the information about F_CLO, that would be 1150? Is this necessary to be calculated? If that is the case can you share the logic script for that?

Andwhat about the accounts that don't use movement types, it's mandatory to upload them with F_CLO?

Sorry for my naive questions, but this BPC world is new. I am coming from BCS world, and I am just doing the shift.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Rui
