Oracle 2 instances in a single host

Dear all,

I have windows 2008 server, oracle 10.2.0.4.0.I have planned to do the development and quality server in a single host by installting 1 oracle home(ie oracle software) and create two different databases.I have installed development server. Now when iam installing quality server, installation is not asking me about how to go about the second installation.previoulsy with other servers i have seen where it will ask for do you want MCOD,Create new database etc..now i did not get this option.Ii was asking me the oracle home and DBSID thts it.Why is that so?

Thanks in advance

    Hi Rajesh,

You can install Oracle more than once on the same system if each installation is installed in a separate Oracle home directory.

If you give different Oracle home paths then OUI would choose different paths according to Oracle flexible architechture and it would be like a fresh intallation

For for further information you may refer to the link given below

    Hi,

    Thanks every body.Solution is

When ever we install the new oracle instance ie new database keeping the same oracle home directory,it will not ask for the installation type ie mcod or new database etc.....it will ask for the new dbsid..give the new dbsid and if you want to install mcod give the same dbsid of the 1st instance and if you want to install in a new oracle home directory proceed with the new home directory.
