i have installed BOE X3.1 as my server+ MySQL + Tomcat,
and BO Enterprise XI v3.1 Client in the an other PC to use Unverse Designer and WebI.
i can successfully logon the server in enterprise mode from the client.
both the BO and MySQL users are authorized with "Admin" privilege.
but wenn i create connection for data access to MySQL it comes the connection error SBO0001(the server is not responding) with remark "CS: write operation not allowed."
By the way, i have also tested the ODBC in the client and it works.
Thanks in advance.

The server is not responding! (SBO0001)
Cause 1 The middleware is not configured correctly.
Cause 2 The BusinessObjects connection parameters are invalid.
Cause 3 The database server is down.
Action Click the Details button in the Test Connection dialog box. Make a note of the
database or middleware error message, and contact your database

@Tim
no, i've created a DB for reports but not the CMS DB.
i'm also confused why i need the "write" privilege to create reports. here i create a Universe in my server and allow my users to create reports on their own PCs. during my work everything is fine only except the accessing from client.
i will try your advice, i'm wondering maybe i miss some configuration in BOE.

Feng

Are you creating reporting connection to the CMS DB? You can't really report of that DB as it's encoded in binary. But the error seems to indicate the account you are using for the connection can't write but reporting DB shouldn't need to. What is your goal here?
mysql needs a configuration change to allow connections from other computers ( I can't remember how to do it [maybe this|http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/how-do-i-enable-remote-access-to-mysql-database-server.html]) but it should be on google.
