How can we manage Tasks in IBP without SAP JAM

Hello Experts,

We have not integrated SAP JAM with IBP at the moment.

In Process Modelling, I am able to create tasks within the Process Steps. But I am unable to change the status of the task. So when I set a step to "completed" status in the Process Instance, in the dashboard, it shows up as Completed (0%) . Any pointers on how to handle this.

Hello Ghevarghese,

Please refer to the following part from the Help link document provided by Ankur:

Monitoring the Process and Tracking its Progress

The process and its phases can be monitored in the dashboard and in the Manage Processes app. Depending on whether SAP Jam is used or not, the progress of the process can be tracked with a different level of detail as follows:

  • Tracking the progress without SAP Jam

The basic way of tracking the progress is to track the status of the individual process steps. There are several statuses available that indicate whether a process step has started, whether it is in progress, or is completed. This provides a rough overview of the running process.

  • Tracking the progress with SAP Jam

A process can also be tracked in more detail using SAP Jam: in addition to the status of the individual process steps, the progress that is being made within the process step is also shown. This progress is reflected by the percentage of completed SAP Jam tasks that are created for the participants after a step was started.

In practice, this means that tasks will only be created on the TASKS app in the Web UI as well as on the Tasks in the Excel UI in case you have Jam integration.

If Jam integration is not in place, you can track the progress of the individual process steps, but there is no automation in terms of tasks.

Hope this clarifies your doubts on this matter.

Best,

Ivan

Hi anna.linden ,

thanks for your clarification. Just to wrap it up for the community.

Tasks can be used w/o JAM integration within the context of the respective WebApps but they aren't available within SAP IBP Excel Add-In. This will only be possible in conjunction with SAP JAM.

Cheers, Peter

Hi,

the users can use the "Tasks" app on the WebUI, or the Tasks button in the IBP Excel Add-In to set the assigned tasks to completed. SAP Jam is optional in this case.

Best regards,

Anna

Dear Anna,

I also have same question, could you please share us details of steps to set up this one.

Thanks in advance.

Tin.

Hi anna.linden ,

somehow the tasks don't appear in the Excel dashboard for tasks although the process but as well the tasks as a such have been assigned to the user. The task dashboard in Excel is always empty. Could it be the case that the tasks in Excel do need SAP JAM integration or did I miss an important config step?

The processes and the tasks are visible in the respective WebUI apps.

best regards, Peter

Hello Tin, Hello Peter,

I think my previous assumption that Jam is optional is wrong. It is in fact mandatory to see the Tasks in the Excel right now. Sorry for the confusion.

Best regards,

Anna
