Results lying in Range but still Material gets Valuated as a Major Defect

Hello

I have a Material whose Inspection plan is having Long term MIC.. When I go to QA32 the status of the Lot is LTIN(Long Term Inspection)STIC(Short Term Inspection Completed)MSUB(Marked for Subsystem)SPCO(Stock Posting Completed)STUP(Statistics updated)..

The Problem is The Quantitative data for the MIC is:- Lower limit = 9 Target value = 10 & Upper Limit = 11.

When I am entering the result as 9.3 the system is valuating as a major defect. Where as it lies between the specified range.

Can someone please help me out of this as to why the system is valuating it as a Major Defect even though the Results are lying in a Specified Range as defined in Long Term MIC.

Hii,

If the MIC value is rejected eventhough it is within spec, then check for the valuation mode in the Sampling procedure. Bcoz, Valuation mode have controls on the Sample size and its relation with acceptance no and Sampling Factor size. Eventhough u have defined the spec values , acceptance and rejection scenario get defered.

Hello Lokesh

Thanx for the reply

The Valuation mode in Sampling procedure is SPC Inspection. & the sampling type is Fixed sample.

Also Radio buttons Without Inspection Points is active & In usage Indicator Radio button Use in Insp. Plan is checked.

can you please suggets as to what shall I do next to overcome this problem.

Hii,

The actual problem lies in ur Valuation mode. If ur valuation mode is SPC Inspection , system does'nt valuate ur samples based on the Spec. Instead it valuates ur sampling or characteristics based on the action limits of ur control charts. In SPC inspection . if the action limits is violated, then the charcateristics or samples is rejected. Why u choose ur valuation mode as the SPC Inspection? Whether u have any specific scenario.for that?. I think this will solve ur problem. Valuate this solution.

K.Lokesh.

Hello Sami

The MIC is Quantitative & it has only Decimal places & UOM. But Lower Limit, Upper Limit & Target Value are not maintained.

Where as in Inspection plan the Lower Limit(09), Upper Limit(11) & Target Value(10) are maintained.

The only difference I found was The MIC is Long term Inspection Cahracteristic. So do we need to maintain anything in MIC OR Inspection plan for Long Term MIC ???

Hi

try to use the complete copy or reference copy model.

In MIC itself mention the Upper,Lower & target value.

Also You must have maintained Upper & lower rejection defect code in MIC itself(or at plant level) keep them as it is.

This has nothing to do with Long term inspection.

Hello Sujit

I have checked other MIC also having same characteristics. They were not having any problems & all the MIC are marked as Incomplete copy model.

Also None of the MIC's have Lower & Upper limits maintained. The Lower & Upper limits are maintained in Insppection plan.

The defect codes are also maintained at plant level & I have not changed that.
