How to get started with comments

Hi Experts,

I read the docu-part of comments in BPC but I have issues with getting started with comments. I know about the 3 BPC ways of adding/reading comments:

- comment column

- excel comment pop up

- submitting comments via action pane and reporting them via the comment report in web

I'm very interested in the second way, adding excel comment pop up. I have EVDRE input schedules and I would love to enhance those by applying the possibilty of adding comments. I know that I need to the EVCOM function, But where am I supposed to put it? Somewhere in the sheet? And does another workbook retrieve these comments automatically, or does it need EVCOM functions also?

Can anybody help me to get started.

Thanx a lot.

Cora

Hello, Cora,

there r some aswers to your questions:

I'm very interested in the second way, adding excel comment pop up. I have EVDRE input schedules and I would love to enhance those by applying the possibilty of adding comments. I know that I need to the EVCOM function, But where am

I supposed to put it?

For using comments as Excel pop up u need to do the following:

1. Insert function EvCOM into your excel worksheet. The syntaxis of it:

EvCOM(D16, u201CFINANCEu201D, u201CSALARYu201D, u201CACTUALu201D, u201DJAN2009u201D)

where D16 is a cell where u want to c your comment, "FINANCE"-name of your application, "SALARY", "ACTUAL","JAN.2009" - members of dimensions. U should note that the rest members r taken from current view.

2. In workbook options set the parameter "Comment option" into "As Excel pop up"

3. Now if there is comment related to the cell it wiil be seen after refresh. And if the workbook is input schedule, u can save comments which u put into the cell's comment value.

And does another workbook retrieve these comments automatically, or does it need EVCOM functions also?

It needs EvCOM functions.

Hope that will help u!
