Installation of PI 7.1

Former Member

Hi!

We are planning to install SAP PI 7.1. As Operating System we consider WIndows Server and database should be Oracle.

According to SAP Installation Guide the Windows Server 2008 will be recommended, which is not yet supported by Oracle for SAP.

Questions:

1) Which Operating System version should be used? (Windows Server 2003 or 2008)?

2) Do I need for SAP PI 7.1 two server (one for SAP ABAP and the second for J2EE)?

3) Which other aspects should be regarded?

Thank you!

Dear Holger,

Ans for Q1: Please do have a look into http://service.sap.com/pam -> Quick Navigation to top 10 most viewed Product Version

-> SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 -> Database Platforms Tab -> Oracle -> Windows Server

Here you can find all permitted combinations of Windows/Oracle for PI 7.1 SYSTEM

Ans for Q2: PI 7.1 is a dual stack system (ABAP & JAVA) installed on the same system. You will not be able to install ABAP & J2EE on seperate system

Ans for Q3: Please do use the Quick Sizer tool in httpo://service.sap.com/sizing to identify the H/W requirement. For general use I would recommend 4 CPU/16GB RAM & 50GB Database for better performance.

Ans for Q4: Yes, it is possible to install PI 7.11 directly

Rgds,

Mat.

Hi ,

You can get all this info in installation guide.

However approx DB size would be around 50-60 GB ,RAM size 8 GB will be good for ABAP+JAVA environment.

Thanks..

1) choose Win-2008

2) No , seprate server is not essential.

3) Hardware and RAM you will get after proper sizing (download sizing tool from marketplace)

use 6-8 GB RAM for dev. environment is enough...
