Chart formatting questions

I was playing with a chart in Crystal XI today. I decided to make an exploded 3D pie chart. The chart shows the percent of service tickets related to a particular category. Categories can be quite long, for instance, "Hardware > Servers > Failure".

When trying to size and position the chart graphic and the legend I ran into some problems. Attempting to drag-resize the legend area to make the text larger and prevent it from wrapping resulted in the legend undocking from the right hand side and shifting to a different position near the middle of the chart. I was able to stop the wrapping by including values with the labels using the standard dialog, but this is not optimal. I was unable to increase the font size of the legend. The only way to increase the size of the font was to resize the chart object as a whole, but this is constrained by the page width and the fact that resizing the chart results in large amounts of white space above and below the chart, which is especially problematic when the chart is included as a subreport.

Is the inability to properly format the legend a bug?

I was also confused when trying to edit the appearance of the pie chart itself. I found that if I right clicked on a slice I was given the option to format the slice, changing textures, patterns, gradients etc. But this only applied to the selected slice. Let's say I edited each of 5 slices in my development report, and then the user ran the report using different parameters and got 10 slices. Would the 5 new slices be unformatted?

To Increase the legend text, Click on the one of legend entry and right click -> Format Legend entry option

You can change the Font, Color and Size of the legend text.

Yes. Whichever slice you modified will have the formatting and remaining thing will have default crystal formatting.

On the first issue, unfortunately formatting the legend using that technique results in no change to the legend. The only way I was able to get it to resize was by resizing the entire chart area.

On the second point, I must be missing something. Do you mean that there is no way to format a chart such that all slices have the desired formatting at runtime unless the report is always run with the same parameters? I might as well just draw a static picture 😕
