PowerDesigner does not seem to allow the combined use of Projects and branching

PowerDesigner does not allow branches to be created within a project. But this seems to mean that if a team requires repository branching of its models, they cannot make use of the 'Project' functionality, such as Project Diagrams. I'm guessing this is because the Project Diagram would not know which branch to use?

But this seems to be a limitation: In other words, any team has to decide up-front whether they want to use Projects or branching, and cannot use both.

SAP Support has confirmed this, but I'd like to know how others have approached this limitation? Or am I misunderstanding something?

You can use both projects and branching.

Don't branch the project contents, branch the folder that contains the project. Each branch can contain different versions of the Project's models.
