Issue with SNP heuristic

Hi ,

We run SNP heuristic planning . For a couple of products we have been facing a wierd issue.

Product A . Lot sizing parameters have been maintained in product master such that a minimum of 20 CS should be ordered at a time.

We have a manual forecast adjustment key figure in our planning book . The value of this key figure also gets added up to total demand. We can specify manual overrides here. When we specify a maual forecast override of say 35 CS and the forecast for that bucket = 20 CS , the total demand = 20 +35 = 55 CS.

SNP looks at this and generates req for 60 CS which is fine . But when we remove the manual forecast override of 35 CS and rerun heuristics (now the total demand is just 20 CS) we expect SNP heuristic to wipe out the req for 60 CS( that it had generated earlier) and create a req for just 20 CS . But it does not happen . The req for 60 CS remains as it is

we notice this behaviour just for 2 products. All other products are working fine. Why does this happen

PS : the reqs are not firmed and they are not within the lead time .

Thanks

Saradha

Hi Saradha,

You need 55 and the heuristic creates 60? Do you have rounding value as well as minumin batch size? (if yes, which value?)

Then in your second case (demand = 20), did you try to delete the order of 60 and run the heuristic? In this case is it creating 20 or 60?

Thanks and Regards

Hi Julie ,

For the first scenario , where we need 55 and heuristics creates 60 , we do have a rounding value. The minimum lot size = 20 and rounding value is also = 20. So SNP heuristics looks at that and rounds up the requirement of 55 CS to the nearest multiple of 20 which is 60.

For the next scenario , when i delete the reqs and rerun heuristics, it does create a supply for 20 CS and not 60. But my question is we have a lot of products like this , and we have not encountered any issue for those products . The problem is only for 2 products and we do run the consistency check with repair option everyday.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Hi Saradha,

The only thing I can think of now is if you use net change planning.

Your additional key figure for forecast adjustment will not be seen as a change, hence the system will not replan...

Is it your case? Do you have not change planning active for your heuristic variant?

If this happens only for 2 products... is there any specific setting to those? I can't see any setting at product level that will give you that

Else I suggest to open an OSS...

Good luck

Julien ,

No we do not have net change indicator on in the SNP planning variant and yes this issue occurs only for 2 products. Anyways i shall keep exploring.

Thanks a lot for all the help

Thanks
