message status moved from 014 to 021, but archiving not working

Hi,

We were able to move about 400K messages from status 014 to 021 which is ready for archive/delete. The archive ran and only 2700 messages were archived our of the 400K. The retention period is set for 5 days and all of these messages are from last month.

Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Rick

Was the archiving procedure in place before the first run of messages?

Hi Prateek,

I don't think we had it completely setup before the bulk of these test messages were sent? Is there another way to manually delete those if they were not flagged for archive etc.?

Thanks for your quick response!

Rick

Hi Prateek,

I have found that we have 378K messages in status 021 where ITFACTION is ARCH. They are all in part of the CENTRAL_BACK pipeline and they seem to have dates that are within our defined retention period. In other words, we know these messages were sent a few weeks back, but they are showing times within 2 days (which is our retention period). So, archiving process is working correctly, but I don't know what is updating these messages or changing the times found in EXETIMEST field.

Any idea what could be updating these messages?

Best Regards,

Rick

Hi,

I am marking this as answered based on the below conclusion.

We believe that running the RSXMB_CANCEL_MESSAGES to manually move from status 014 to 021 caused the EXETIMEST field to be changed in the SXMSPMAST table which would explain why the archive would not pick up these messages. The dates did not change over the weekend and the archive process is now working.

Thanks for all your help and input!

Best Regards,

Rick
