Hello Members,

Need some advise for PLM Data Migration for client who wants to implement PLM. My client is currently working on PP-PI (have Material Master, BOM) and has absolutely no SAP PLM Master Data (EHS Specification Types , Property Tree, WWI etc..). They have all their Specification Documents on PDF.

1. As they dont have PLM, as part of data conversion effort should we create all PLM EHS Specifications Types and Property Trees and WWI templates (which do not exist) and link to Existing Client's Master Data (Material Master and BOM).

2. Also do we again create Specification Document using WWI using the PLM EHS Specifications we convert ?. As I mentioned their existing Specification documents are simply on PDF on a Server and were created manually.

Please advise.

Dear Rakesh

assumption: we are talking about a customer from chemical industry

We need to split "PLM" from "EHS" discussion. Therefore it is important to understand the difference.

SAP EHS Management is designed to support e.g. generation of Safety Data Sheet and other stuff

SAP Recipe Development/SAP Recipe Management (as part of SA PLM) is dedicated to a more "high" level process.

Therefore: we need more information to "really" help you. If the customer is having a "Safety Data Sheet" and would like to use SAP solutions he is installing SAP EHS Management (more or less: this would be the correct decision). But if the customer is handling "Recipes" then there is the potential need to have "on top" PLM Solution (SAP Recipe Development)

Assuming that we talk about EHS: Yes the system would be empty and you need to prepare all (customizing, WWI etc.) by your own (or customer is willing to use services from SAP and others; in this case story is different)

PS: To use EHS: you must buy a further SAP license => Please check with your SAP contacts
