Creating Article Master from Article Copy vs MC Ref Article vs Ref Article

Hi experts,

would like to know that if we create article master using the following tools

(1) based on MC reference article

(2) based on reference article in MM41 initial screen

(3) using article copy tool

Do you know what is the difference between using these 3 methods? Do they copy all the same data or there is a difference?

Can we configure for each method which fields should be copied from or proposed from for the new article?

Hi LT,

By using reference article in MM41, most of the information from Ref Article is copied into the new article (except for EAN no, prices etc). This is useful in the case if both the article belongs to the same MC and has the logistic information similar to the reference article.

By using MC reference article, we set some of the default data that needs to be proposed while creating a new article. Some of the information like Base UoM, Tax class, Purchase Group, Product hierarchy..can be specified at the MC ref Art level and this gets copied in to the article.
