ARV_BC_XMB_WRP<date> fails

Hi,

We have configured message archival in our production server. We have scheduled the archival as well as the deletion job through SXMB_ADM.

Even though the archival job completes successfully by creating an archive job ARV_BC_XMB_WRP<date>, the archive job ARV_BC_XMB_WRP<date> fails with the reason "Error while accessing archive files".

I've gone through the note 872388 and checked the status report. the report says that there are more than 2000 messages waiting to be archived but still they are not getting archived becasue of the job failure.

Kindly let us know how to resolve the issue.

Regards,

Varadhu

We have had this problem for over a year. SAP Support has not given us clear steps to solve. Please share if/when you find an answer. Thank you.

Hi,

The problem in our case was with the wrong naming convention of the logical file name.

I don't know whether the following will solve your issue. But still I'm providing the steps I've followed to resolve our issue.

Please goto Trx : AOBJ - > select -> BC_XMB (Goto details) ->unselect the check box "Do Not Start Before End of Write Phase"

And then please goto Trx : SARA -> Customizing -> Basis customizing ->Cross-Client File Names/paths -> Under Dialog structure -> goto

Logical File Name Definition,Cross-client -> Select Logical file- ARCHIVE_DATA_FILE -> Correct the Physical file name as per the

below mentioned help link.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/4d/a1613b3e24526fe10000000a11402f/frameset.htm

In our case I'd given some standard values for all the three parameters and that caused the issue. After going through the link mentioned above, I've given the default values which will be substituted by the system itself during the runtime for the parameters 2 and 3.
