Gender key mandatory

Hi All,

As per my cline trequirement I have made Gender Key field as reqiored field in IT 0002 (Personal Data). Now the thing is their are three options male / female and unknown when we save unknown field the system pops up "fill in all required fields" and does not allow to save.

Now is the any way that std SAP shows the mandatory field with check mark can be brought. How can i make the mandatory filed check mark in the blank?

Hi Riti,

Do not make mandatory for gender key because it is radio button. While configuring form of address, based on value 1 (male) 2 (Female) in the last column "Gender" system will make default for gender key in IT0002 when you select Mr/Mrs....So make it standard.

If i require to make it required filed would that effect somehwhere....? also i am making it as a required filed but i want to make it as a mandatory filed.

Ritika,

I dosent affect anywhere if you make it required field, how ever since the field that we are talking about is a radio button, even if you make it required in T588M table (This is nothing but making the field mandatory) no tick mark appears indicating that the field is mandatory (it comes in case of Text Boxes).

Hi Riti,

Anyway it will reflect based on Title field. So why dont you make tile field as mandatpry and kep gender field as it is?

However to my knowledge it should not have any effect.

It is not reflecting as per Title field here..it has no direct link with the title field.

hi,

As per purnima, when ever we enter title as miss and gender as M definitly system will throw a warnign mesage saying,

Gender and form of address (Mr./ Mrs). are inconsistant.

please check this.

and also even if you make it mandatory it won't affect any where.

Please tell me the error which you are getting is warning or a critical one?

In general you need not make Gender key GESCH mandatory in T588M table, gender key being a radio button is coded in such a way that one of the three options would be automatically selected.

Coming back to the error that you are getting i think thi might be because of some other field and not gender key, please try to fill in all the fields and see whether the error still comes up.

Hi sikindar,

earlier ity was standard so it was allowing even with unknown field to save the IT 0002 but by making it required filed in T588M i made it required so that it will not accept the record if its unknown..which is happening but like other mandatory fileds i just want that check mark in the filed so that by looking itself you can know the field is mandatory...
