how to restrict tracing no. in P.R

Dear cons

In P.R there is no facility to enter a particular tracking no. when a person enter ABC in tracking no. field & another user of the same deptt. enters XYZ in tracking no. field. SO IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO MONITOR the P.R. how can we restict it so that user will enter a uniform tracking no for the respective deptt.

This is exactly the problem we faced.

What we did is first coded the various department by some specific codification like 212(purchasing deptt) etc as tracking numbers

Now we created a table known as ZBEDNR where we entered the tracking number ,purchase organisation and the description of the tracking numbers with the help of our ABAPer.We update it through SM30

This enabled us that when creating PR the tracking number field will have a dropdown where we have to enter the Porg and select the tracking number from that dropdown.Also with the help of BASIS person we created authorization roles based on the tracking numbers.
