Monitor DIA and BTC processes

Hi all,

i want to monitore how many DIA and BTC processes are free during the night.

What'ts the best way to do this?

I suppose that there aren't enough DIA processes during the night because some users complain about peformance problems in these times.

You can use SAPBTCPR report to check the status of all background processes. You can create a periodic job using this report, which would spool the BTC processes status for you during night.

For DIA, you need to use SM50/SM51/SM66 transaction. You can also use ST03 for doing the analyis of workload during night.

If the memory and CPU utilization is well below 60%, you can always add few more work processes on the server.

The thumb rule for the work process is that 1 WP can cater to 10 user requests.

To find usage of DIA and BGD WP, you can do SM50-->List-->CPU..

You can find the usage time of all the work processes on that instance. Depending on your work process number you should be able to find some work process ( DIA and BGD) with very less CPU time ( close to zero or zero). If you find that problem in not the work process number.

Performance problem can be due to numerous reasons.You have to investigate the reasons.

You can start with ST06>Details Analysis Menu>CPU , Memory usage at a particular time.

May be Database Backup runs at night, may be virus scan or any other background activity which makes the system slower.
