Activity price changes mid year

Hello Gurus,

My clients are using project systems for project costing. Their requirement is to maintain the Activity Plan Prices for the next 5 yrs. This is so because if they plan for a prospective project that may carryover to next year, they need to find the cost of the project.

I have the following questions in this regard:-

1) I set the plan activity price of an activity at Rs 50 today for next year and start costing for a project, suppose next year I feel the prices need to be changed to Rs 55 and I am at period 4 of next year.

Now, if I change the activity price at period 4 will the plan prices input into that project for period 1,2 and 3 will also be suitably updated?

2) Is there any chance of any data inconsistency at any point?

would be nice to get you views on this issue.

Hi Panagiotis,

Do you mean to say that if the project runs into period 8 and I change the planned activity price on period 4, yet for the periods between 4 to 8 the cost booked to the project for that activity will be the previous activity price?

would be nice if you throw some light on that.

Hi once more...

i performed the test in our system...

cj40 project costing with activity types

kp26 change activity price for the cost center used in cj40

cj40 examine the cost->no change occurs unless we make a significant change to project costing (ex erase the number of hours and write them once more). It was only at that time the system managed to re-read the new activity prices of kp26.

What do you think? Your business needs are different?
