Some organizations have two reporting structures i.e functional and administration.

For example: In some IT companies, for your project related issues you report to a particular manager and for your administrative issues (like appriasals, transfers, promotions etc) you reach out to different manager.

hope this helps

I would suggest to create a custom relationship and use it for either functional reporting or adminstrative reporting. Having same relationship for both might create problem for evaluation and also reporting.

Its like having a Project Manager and having a manager for employee career development grievance handling etc like Career Manager/people manager terminology varies according to organization

Hi

I had developed these reporting's some time back.

Functional Reporting : You are right u can user A088 but its better to do position to position mapping through A003. That mean 1 position will have many position reporting .

Administrative Reporting : This is standard reporting offered when u create structure. Position to Org unit mapping through A003.

This is used for leave approvals.

You can develop adhoc query for taking out these reporting

This way you will have reports also available.

Thanks

Hi Nidhi,

My question is

I have a position existing in one department , he should report to his department Head and he also should reports another manager from different department. So i have to develop 2 relationships for this position

1) reporting to the same department head

2) reporting to another deparment manager

so which relationship i should use in this 2 scenario..

hope u got my question

Hi,

I think in this case u need to use Matrix Strcuture for creating Functional & Administrative relationship.

Incase of administrative relationship it wud be normal reporting to head of org unit in which employee is workin.

Incase of functional relationship u hv to create dotted line relatinship between 2 positions from different org units.

hi

1) reporting to the same department head :

Here you can use normal reporting scenario that is created automatically when u create position under the organization . Please standard workflows like for leave approval in ess works on this type of relationship(A 003).

2) reporting to another deparment manager:

Here you can maintain position to position mapping. Like One Position is reporting to the other department manager's position through A002 relationship. here if you need of some approvals from this head then u can customize the workflow for position to position reporting. You can also develop adoc query to capture this reporting.

You can also use matrix reporting based on these relationship. But for this u need to define both relationship in spro

Hope this helps
