Lenghth of the Sales Order Number

Hi All,

In our business scenario, Sales orders in SAP are created through XI interface from a legacy system. The legacy system follows a number range which is 12 digits. Some sample data is mentioned below:

0002IF000019

0100HG000243

0003JA000009

The first four numbers represents plant, fifth is an alphabet and denotes year (starting from 2000), sixth is also an alphabet representing month and the remaining six digits are running numbers. Each month the last six digits are reset to zero and start fresh.

We would like to map this number into the sales order number. In SAP the lenghth of the sales order number is 10, and system is not allowing numeric-alpha number.

Please specify how this can be achieved.

Thanks in advance.
