Utilizing EP as UI to call BAPIs and Java APIs simultaneously

Hi,

Is it possible to call certain SAP BAPIs as well as MDM Java APIs from a single event? For example is it possible that when a user clicks on a 'Submit' button (on the UI in EP), the data entered in this UI is updated in MDM using Java APIs and simultaneously SAP BAPIs are also called that update the same data say in ECC (can be custom or standard fields) .

Relevant answers will be rewarded with points.

Thanks,

Sachin

    Hi Sachin,

Yes you can do this using Portal.

In actual scenerio of CMDM we insert data into MDM first using JAVA API's, then we call a material create/ update BAPI to move Data from MDM to ECC.

In your scenerio you can call JAVA API's and BAPI at a single instance to save data in MDM and ECC using Webdynpro JAVA Appln. Doing this you can direcly populate fields in EP and on clicking SAVE tab data will get saved in MDM and ECC.

    Thanks

    Hi Sachin

this is a very common scenario in MDM portal solution. When we save a ecord from portal the save button should call all MDM validations defined using APIs and also check for ECC validations like say Sales tax classification codes are maintained correctly as configured in ECC or BAPI to check if number assigned is within the number ranges defined in ECC.

    best regards

    Hi Sachin,

Yes its fully possible to update MDM and ECC at the trigger of an eent from portal UI. But it is better to update the Global Data in MDM and then move it to ECC (or any other system) thru Syndication. You can cll the BAPIs and MDM Java API code in a single method in Web Dynpro.

    Hope this helps!!

    Cheers,

    Arafat
