Mulitple structures in SAP Query: MDX and future development ?

Hi there

assumed you have a SAP Query with 2 fixed struktures.

As answered in many threads MDX shows only that structure elements as single members in Crystal Reports which contain the key figures. The other will be presented as a single item with several rows of data.

The result is not only a painful work to format and sort data records e.g. with data record number .

In particular if the keyfigures are positioned in the lines the axis of the report is getting transposed and then you have to deal with multi column format with all its restrictions (fixed column width, 1 detail section etc.)

Could anyone give a statement if that issue is on the worklist for further improvements of SAP integration??

Thanks

Rico

Hi Rico,

let me correct one item here:

the structure with key figures - independent of being used in rows or columns - will always be presented in form of separate fields. Is this planned to get enhanced - yes - but I can't provide any timelines or committments in a forum.

Hi Rico,

great question that one!

We have also trouble with custom structures. Even the behaviour of the key figures in the first query structure is not satisfying. First of all the clumsy field descriptions are disturbing me. (See also thread/answer: [Clumsy fields names of BEX Query Structure in Crystal Reports|])

It's really a painful work to select the correct key figure at some parts of the software.

So, any comment or advice about the plans to improve the structure integration will be highly appreciated.

Current walk around is try CrossTable to format them - if that can work out.

SAP's team already noticed this problem and CR dev team promised to make the items in structure to be single fields in the coming release.

Thanks for the suggestion. Crosstab already evaluated; doesn't help in that case (less formating possibilities, characteristic column shifted in the middle of table).

I'm looking for a more official statement than verbal promises. When can we plan to implement Crystal Reports with SAP BI and 2 structure MDX in a more effective way? An answer to this question is very important for evaluation decisions in many SAP BI projects. Is there anyone who can give a declaration of availability, release or the like at SAP side?

Hi everybody,

did anybody hear some new information regarding that topic, maybe on SAPPHIRE conference or somewhere else. Unfortunately almost one year after the last post in that thread, the have been no major improvements.

Best regards,

Sebastian
