SAP NetWeaver 7.2

Hi!

I often read about the new major release NW 7.2 including AS ABAP & Java with Portal, there are also already many hints about new features in Weblogs and statements of SAP employees.

But whenever somebody is asking for concrete detail, these sources remain silent.

So: Has anybody got any plan about the new NW 7.2 Portal. Platforms? System availability? Feature list?

Does a customer paying a fortune for SAP software even have to pay more for sending employees to Teched for receiving competent answers on these questions?

Regards,

Thomas Wuercher

Yes, of course ! And if you can't go you will be able to pay for the cdroms !

Hi!

Oh, yes! I forgot about the invaluable possibility to participate offline on product information events like these via the well-prepared, objective, non-marketing slides for sale months later.

I feel getting tired of this circus. SAP sells a half-baked product like their portal, makes millions with consulting & training, starts bug-fixing it & even earns more with consulting & training on the bug-fixes.

MOSS isn' t that bad, Webshpere neither!

Hi,

This recipe has made the fortune of the SAP company but they should realise that there is a world wide economical crisis and that final customers have less and less budget.

It's becoming more and more difficult for us to "sell" SAP solutions to our own company internal users because it is too complicated and too expensive.

Last gag we found out : in SRM to be able to communicate between the SRM client and the SUS client (2 clients of the same single abap system) it is mandatory to use PI. the project is just 3 times more expensive just because of this small detail....

Oh, a good opportunity to get rid of some frustration!

You know what: I' m in the SAP biz only since 2005 - starting with Java Development. Everybody' s got to have a Java machine & infrastructure, everybody' s got to do Web Dynpro Java, Portal is the GUI of the future.

Then, one year later, came Web Dynpro ABAP and faded away Agassi. Forget about Java, let' s do it Old School. Forget about Portal, let' s all stare into NW Business Client.

So, here I am with a Portal installation having a UWL which - after approvement / rejection of a workitem - still shows it in the open list until next refresh. All fixed in NW 7.2, they say. Everything stays better in NW 7.2, they say.

But what exactly is in NW 7.2 & when it comes, they don' t say. Buy Teched tickets, get a handful of marketing material for best price.

In my opinion - as a paying customer - we have the right to get information like this, which is important not only for current portal implementations user acceptance, but also for future portal projects, which move step by step to MOSS, for free - and right now!

Thomas
