SAP User Authentication - Automatic update for new users

Our SAP authentication has been configured succcessfully and we are about to go live in production. I was wondering if there is a way of automatically scheduling the update of SAP users to run periodically rather than have to run it from "Authentication" in the CMC manually.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Rob

Hi,

what is the exact scenario you looking for ?

You importing roles to the BusinessObjects system so in case a new user is added to any of the imported roles, the user will be able to logon and in case the user didn't exist already the user will be imported on the first logon.

Hi Ingo

Either as per your suggested scenario, or alternatively as per Windows authentication which has a scheduled job to check for new users being assigned to Business Objects functional groups.

Hi Rob,

you dont need such an update scenario on the SAP Auth. As long as the User is added to an imported role he can access BO based on the rights that have been assigned to the role (as already posted).

Hi Seb

That is useful info thanks. This works fine (I have just tested it) if we had users signing on with SAP credentials. However, our BW reporting is only part of a strategic reporting layer encompassing many systems, so users are signing on using Windows authentication SSO and the logon back to BW to execute the underlying universe query done through the SNC.

Hence if a new user just granted BW reporting rights signs on with SSO the BW force user synchronization does not occur. Hence I wondered if this could be scheduled as a pull from BO.

As a fall back I can get users to log off and then back in manually using SAP credentials.

Cheers

Rob

Hi,

given your scenario you are right because you will also need the SAP credentials to assign it as an Alias to the AD credenitals.

the "Update" in the SAP Authentication option is then the correct approach
