Hello all,

I am asked to prepare a implementation strategy for implementing ESS in a company in USA, i just wanted to know if anybody want to share their thoughts or give me suggestions before i proceed.

System is already configured for ESS

Now from Security Side what are the things that i need to do?

I checked for SAP standard roles for ESS and there are only 2 role showing like about 5 transactions.

Please let me know the best way to proceed on this

Thanks,

SSSS

Did you look at the security guide for your release?

Team up with the HR boys and girls. They'll know which transactions you need

Hello there,

I just finished one of the 4 ESS implementations I have done during the course of my practice. As mentioned by a colleague here please work with the HR team to provide you with necessary infotypes required to build the ESS role in ECC.

Here are couple of suggestions you need to understand process wise;

Understand the number of users that will be going through the portal to access ESS

Gather all infotypes required by the HR to build your ESS role

Try to work in collaboration with the Portal Administrator, just in case you need to adjust the Portal ESS role and probbaly create new iviews to accomodate the business requirements

Make sure Basis guys set up the connect id btw ECC and portal to avoid some weird Webdynpro problem

In case, the company has a large user base, liek my client, get urself trained on the use of User group, role assignment and import from text file to portal

Make sure the RFC object is included in the role as well as s_service.

Ultimately, try to understand how to use object P_PERNNR with P_ORGIN when creating the role.

Cheers!
