Merge two workbooks into one.

We have two BEx workbooks whose formating is somewhat complex. We would like to merge the two workbooks into one with each exisitng workbook being a tab in the new workbook. Is there any way of combining two workbooks?

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping there was a simple way to merge so that we didn't have to redo the formating. We will need to take the steps to do this manually.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris

You can certainly merge two workbooks into one. But it will not be a straight forward approach. You will be recreating one workbook in the process.

What you need to do is choose one workbook which is more complex than the other. Connect to your server and Insert a new tab in that. One the second (blank) tab keep your reference (mosue click) on some cell say B4 and insert a Analysis Grid (second icon in the Design tool box). This will take you to the design mode. Here right click on the Analysis Grid and choose properties. In the General tab, in the Dataprovider click on the create new icon give it a name and choose your deired query and click ok. Come out of the design mode by clicking on the "A" icon in your design menu and this will execute the query that you chose. GO ahead with formatting your worbook as required.

I hope this helps.

THanks.

Dear Chris,

Merging of different Workbooks are not possible with BEx Analyzer.

But you can open the first workbook->Go to Tools->Copy Sheet. This will create a copy of first worksheet as a new worksheet in the same workbook. You can change the DP of the second worksheet according to the DP which is there in second workbook

Murali,

Thanks for your reply. When you say 'DP', what are you referring too?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

The DP is nothing but a Data Provider to which you are assigning the Query.
