Is there a known technical limitation to the number of member access profiles? We are debating creating a lot of small profiles in order to have a very logical and potentially scriptable set of profiles, versus a more traditional creation of profiles to fit targeted needs.
Thanks,
Jason
Hi Jason,
this should not be any problem.
You have to thing that worst scenario it is to create a member access profile for each user.
Which means 1100 member access profiles.
This should not be any problem. even the number of your entities are 10000.
We already have customer in production with this kind of numbers using SAP BPC 7.0 for consolidations.

The performances it will not be so good in this case because every authentication it will take quite long.
I'm not sure how you arrived to this number of member access profiles but if you provide more details about number of secure dimensions, number of members for each of secure dimension and number of users then we can see if you really need this amount of member access profiles or not.

Sorin,
I am trying my best to lay this out impartially in an effort to see what you and the community have to say.
We have 4 applications currently in use, essentially a Finance, Rate, HCM, and Capital Expenditure. There are currently only a few users but licensing for 1,100 users has been purchased. The administration of the system is split between the finance area and IT. Finance handles dimension maintenance, data uploads, etc. and IT manages security. Without getting too much into the details, consider a 3600 member secure Company dimension being used in 3 of those applications. Different users need read and write access at varying levels of the hierarchy. In an effort to simplify/standardize the application of security, an approach of creating a member access profile for every combination of application and company is being explored. So 3,600 companies x 3 applications = 10,800. Given that some will be read and some will be read/write, the number can actually go much higher, but I think this explains what is being discussed.
Thanks,
Jason
Worst case would be roughly 10,000+ member access profiles. I'm concerned about not just what the system might allow, but the performance implications of this approach.
Thanks,
Jason
