Exploding Latest Alternative BOM

Dear Gurus,

I have two alternative BOMs of same material. They have same validity period and lot size. I dont want to use Production Version. Now, when I create a production order no BOM is exploded, the system throws an information message saying: "No suitable BOM alternative could be determined"

I am missing on some configuration. What I want is that the latest BOM should be picked up, i.e. alternative 2 should be exploded by the system in production order.

Dear,

BOM is not exploded in the following situations:

- No BOM is effective:

-- On the explosion date and in the given area of validity

For the given effectivity parameters

- The BOM has a deletion indicator.

- The BOM is a multiple BOM, and has no alternative that matches the lot size for your required quantity.

- No BOM matches the selection criteria of the BOM application you selected.

- This is possible in the following situations, for example:

-- The application selects a specific alternative on the explosion date you require. The material master record supports alternative determination by Explosion date.

If the specified alternative is not valid on the explosion date, the BOM is not exploded.

You can Define Alternative Determination for Multiple BOMs in OS32

The process I followed was, I created a BOM with alternative 1 and created a production order. It copied the BOM perfectly fine. Later on I created another alternatve 2 and created a production order, I got the error as mentioned in my earlier post and no BOM was copied. This means that validity of BOM is not a problem, explosion date is not a problem, alternative selection is the problem. Where do I tell the system that the latest BOM is to be exploded?

I cant use OS32 as I am not using configurable material.

Dear,

OS32 It is not for configurable material it is for alternative determination also in MRP 4 view Selection method = 1and check.

Check in MRP 4 view.What selection is made for the BOM explosion.I guess, may be it is maintain as Selection by Order qty.

Pls confirm.

Also what's the difference between those 2 alternatives.Key points are,

1) Validity Dates

2) From to To lot size

3) Active/In Active

And also specify order qty of 2nd order you have created.

what is the setting for explosion date

and also check BOM/Roting selction

I have maintained 01 as the selection ID.

Also, when I delete alternative BOM 1 with effectivity date as 05.09.2009, production order still doesnt explode any BOM. Explosion date shown in production order is 05.09.2009 in this case, and no BOM is selected. Alternative 2 is very much valid on this date.

So, even after deletion of one alternative the other BOM is not selected

There is no difference in two alternatives, they are exactly same.

order quantity is 1 for the second order

when only one bom is there and second yet not created --> bom is selected

when both are active --> no bom is selected

when first bom is inactive second bom is active --> no bom is selected

when first bom is active second bom is inactive -- > no bom is selected

when first bom is deleted second bom is active --> no bom is selected

First let us know, whether ur creating PRD order manually by CO01 or

converting plan order to PRD order from MD04

Then what's the From to To lot size of both Alternate BOM's

Now If Validity Date of Both is same, Lot size is also same, you don't want to use Production Version then upon what condition system will pick Alt. BOM 1 or 2??

In this case system always pick Alternate BOM 1.

I tried through planned order conversion to production order.

In case two alternatives are there the system explodes the first alternative it gets, i.e. alternative 1, in production order.

Why is it not working with CO01? Business will be creating manual production orders as well in certain cases.

I am fine with system picking alternative bom 1, or the first bom it finds active and valid. But, when I am trying with CO01 it doesnt explode, it works fine with planned order -> production order.

What's the selection method you have set for BOM explosion in MRP 4.

And still one question is not answered.

What's the From to To lot size of Both alternatives.

Also when I run CS12 one level above the BOM of this material is not exploded. i.e. suppose B is in the BOM of A. B has two alternatives. When I run CS12 for A with PP01, BOM of B is not exploded.

Hi,

in CS12 u have a option of alt1 or alt 2 should get exploded

so give as alt 2 and check whether it is getting exploded or not

1.Check whether a suitable BOM selection Id is maintained in OPPQ for the plant.

2.Check whether the alternative determination settings is proper in OS32.

Check whether Both the alternatives BOM's

whether they are active or inactive

if u want 2 alternattive BOM

then make alternative 1 BOM as inactive

then system automatically picks ur alternative 2 BOM
