Broadcaster not taking query variants

Former Member

Hi,

I am trying to broadcast 5 workbooks , each workbook has 5 varaints(meaning 5 different broadcaster settings for one workbook)and all these variants are same for 5 workbooks but its only accepting variants for only 1 workbook and not for all.

When i execute the broadcaster I get the message " variant missing/CCD Biz/Month value missing" for rest of the workbooks.

Did any one of you come across this issue?

Any help/advice is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You have 5 workbooks. Each workbook has five variants. So you creeated five diffferent broadcast settings mentioning one variant for each setting.Am i right?

So when you broadcast first workbook's first broadcast setting, you would have select the first variant under "Workbook Precalculation" tab->"Determine from Variants" and for the second broadcast setting, you would have selected second variant for the same workbook.

and so on....

Make sure you have created a Global Variant for all the 5 workbooks.

Hi Murali,

Thank you for your response.I am doing like the way you have mentioned it.

Varaint creation how i did : Upon the refreshing the workbook , i have choosen the selection criteria and saved as variants.

Is there any limitation that broadcaster will take variants only for one query/workbook and if the same are used again it will not take?

Please advice

Thanks,

Hi,

In your variant creation, upon refreshing the workbook ,you have chosen the selection criteria and saved as variants. When you save as variant, you would have unchecked the checkbox "Save as User Variant",which will create a global variant.

This global variant is common for all the user for that particular query/workbook.First of all,it wont allow you to create a global variant with the same name.if it already exists.

Please check this.

Thanks Murali , i have created global variants.

For eg : 1,2,3,4,5 global variants

While broadcasting,

Workbook A uses variants 1 ,2 ,3 ,4, 5

Workbook B also uses variants 1,2,3,4,5

Workbook C also uses variants 1,2,3,4,5

Workbook D also uses variants 1,2,3,4,5

Workbook E also uses variants 1,2,3,4,5

But only one workbook will execute and rest will throw the error "variant missing/CCB Bizmnth/yr missing"

Above note talks about not being able to assingvalues to varaible but my issue is with variants.

Do you think this note applies for variants.

Thanks you for reply.

Did you maintain the variant for each workbook in the broadcast settings?

Hi Deepu,

These variants are created on the query which are embedded in the workbooks and i enter these variants for each workbook in the broadcaster setting.

Thanks,
