Exception: CS, Specified RDBMS is invalid

Hello,

when running a report in Desktop Intelligence based on a univere on the CMS-Server (e.g. eFashion,Activity ...) I get this error:

Connection or SQL sentence error (DA0005): Exception: CS, Specified RDBMS is invalid

or

Exception: DBD, [unixODBC][Driver Manager]Data source name not found, and no default driver specifiedState: IM002

My BOE XI 3.1runs with MySQL and Tomcat on a Linux server.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Axel

Hi Axel,

The e-fashion universe will be pointing to an ms-access database.

Normally this gets installed on the BOXI server.

However I see this is probably a unix installation, may be they didn't install it?

Or installed it somewhere else?

If it's installed, since its ms-access, the connection will use odbc to find the database.

So check on the server whether it has got this odbc connection and it points to the right database.

If you want to know what BO expects as an odbc name, check the connection on the universe

(in designer or the cmc).

Good luck,

Marianne

Hello Marianne,

I verified if environment variable ODBCINI is pointing to odbc.ini. But echo $ODBCINI. But this returned empty.

So I added ODBCINI="$(BOBJEDIR)odbc.ini" to bobje/setup/env.sh

But it is still not working.

Do I have to installt the demo databases seperately on my Linux server?

Hi Axel,

You have to go to ODBC admin on your server

(i'm no linux/unix expert, but there must be a tool for that)

See what ODBC names are defined and if they are accessible to all users of the server

(in windows ODBC admin that would be a "system" ODBC data source).

If the name used in the connection of the universe is there, see where it point to,

which access database and where in your system landscape.

Is it really there? Can you access it?

If the name is not there, find out where the .mdb file (the access database) is.

Then create the name as the universe expects it and point it to the access database.

If even the access database cannot be found, re-install this sample package.

Good luck,

Marianne

Hello,

is it possible to use the MS Access database like eFashion and Island Resorts in a Suse linux Environment?

It seems these universes have been installed during Enterprise setup because I can choose them with Webi or Deski, but I cannot run reports based on them! That is wehere I get this error: Exception: CS, Specified RDBMS is invalid

any suggestions?

Thanks

Hello,

No it is not possible, this universe is part of the installation but was designed for Windows platforms for demo purposes.

Connectivity to MS Access database on Linux is not supported, and should not work.

The only workaround would be to import the content of the Access database in a supported database on Linux.
