regards
sanjay
Hi,
Brief explanatiopn
Preventive maintenance - you "PREVENT" a failure/damage - so you do a routine checks (depending on company's maintenance philisophy/strategy) to ensure machine is running within the designed operating parameters. in SAP PM, you create a routine maintenance plans that automatically creates a Preventive Work Order.
Corrective maintenance - you "CORRECT" a failure/damage/malfunction due to wear & tear, operating conditions, design, etc. In SAP PM, you raise a notification (work request) to record the problem, the notification is then assessed/reviewed/approved and a corrective work order is then created (linked to the notification) to repair the problem.
Sometimes, a corrective work order is created as a result of a preventive work order. For example, during a routine Tank inspection, the technician found a discoloured level indicator and reading the correct level from a distance is difficult. In this case, the fault is recorded in the PM work order report and a corrective work order is raised to clean/replace the level indicator.
Cheers,
Joey
