Hi Ashmita

There is no problem, you can learn SD, it's not that much tough. But the only thing is after learning SD as a fresher without any DOMAIN knowledge, nobody will give a chance. For SAP-SD career DOMAIN knowledge is must.

My suggestion is go for ABAP. In ABAP in around 2 years of experience you could be at better position then SD (As a fresher).

I have many friends suffering from same problem of choosing SD as a fresher.

So learn from others mistake, and go for ABAP.

Hi Ashmita

That is ok, many companies give such chances for cost reasons, but later in future if you plan for company change or even project change, they will ask you DOMAIN experience.

Now its your decision only. My suggestion is: choose ABAP (If option available).

P.S. If the current company gives you a contract for 5-6 years with SD, (and also you don't wanna switch), then go for SD.

Hi Ashmita,

If you start learning from now on it will be good right. Business process is concern search at forum, discuss with SD consultants and end users if any.

Hi Ashmita

Two and half year on project is good, if you are good at learning. Please go ahead with SD, seems you are have enough desire.

Go ahead, and best of luck.

Hi Ashmita,

It is possible to learn SD module. Once you jump into the functional module slowly you will learn business process involved in it.

You don't have to worry about domine experience. Being a ABAP consultant it is wise to learn functional module like SD, MM, FICO and PP ect. So that you can become a techno functional consultant.

It is very easy to learn also since you take forum support and lot many resources are available.

Thanks,

Hi Asmita,

You can learn SD no problem by this you will get a good idea of system because if ABAP person know functional it will grate advantage for you but I will sagest go for ABAP because now a days market is totally saturated and companies are asking min 2 End to end so better go for abap and if you tray to take idea of sd model it will advantage for you as a abap.

Hi,

Functional module needs domain experience . At the initial stages it would be tough to understand the business processes. Try to get into an implementation> then you will get a clear idea.
