I see 2 documents on upgrade
1) basis 4.6C -> NW04s SP14 or lower
2) 4.6C -> ECC6.0
I do not understand why we have the first document : basis 4.6C -> NW04s SP14 or lower.
This is because we have HR in our 4.6C system, but NW04s does not have HR. So how we even
think about this upgrade?
Please help explain. Thanks!
NW04s and ECC 6.0 are the same thing.... ECC (Enterprise Core Component) has HR module installed by default... Netweaver 04s is now known as Netweaver 7.0 is just a platform or a suite.

Hi Christy
Since NW04s is a platform on which some of the following and many other applications can be installed, That guide is also there if you want to upgrade your old landscape to 'NW' (either it is NW04 or NW04S/NW07), So that, you will be able to install the following components/applications too instaed of a sinle one i.e. ECC 6.0 ABAP
WebAs Java
Enterprise Portal
BW
PI
Trex
... etc.
Right now if you will upgrade 4.6 to only ECC 6.0 ABAP, you do not need NW04s platform and you will get HR module in ECC 6.0.
'So what is the point to upgrade 4.6C to NW04s (which has no HR, etc) as this guide provided?'
This is required if your client wants all NetWeaver Components to be installed in their landscapes instead of just ECC 6.0
Please let us know if it is not clear.
