For a detailed report on the stock movements monthly wise You can have MB5B transaction.
And for Over all stock value analysis in plant wise ,storage location wise,material groupwise etc You can use MC.1,MC.9

SAP has some stock reports,
e.g .you can schedule MB52 to run automatically in the night of month end
MB5B can calculate the stock at certain dates.
MB5L may be helpful.
