Activation of the Batch management check in the Material master

Dear All,

Here I have one query

Can we able to activate the Batch management check in the material master-->Purchaging view or not,

if we have open or completed sales documents and deliveries for that materail.

Usually you just must not have any stock in previous and current period, then you can activate the batch managment.

Try it. if you get an error, then you can see an extra button in MM02 to review the error log which tells you the details why it is not possible.

Then post these messages and we will give the solution

U can't activate the batch mgmt, when there is a open docuements.. u need to clsoe all ur open docuemnts, then it s possible to do it..

U can activate it,u can not deactivate batch mgmt provided u do some trasanctions.

Hello Murali, Batch management is typically a way to manage/ identify the item in special way, where all movement of a particular item are tracked. If you mark an item batch managed, with open documents in the system .. it would be difficult for the system to identify if the details about the item are to be tracked or not which will cause errors. Any change in item master should be done with clear background in term of open documents so that there is no conflict in system for the handling of typical material.
