Hi ,

1. Without classification allows us to release the document at item level as well as header level .

But with "with classification " you can release only at header level .

2. Any external document ( including PO ) can not be release item wise . So we can not release it without classification .

Suppose you have one PO with two line item . If you allow PO to be released item wise then you release first item and then 2nd item . But the effect will be the vendor would get two PO with same number with one line item each . Its why SAP does not allow item wise release for external document .

3.No , you can not .

4.Yes . create release strategy without classification . But it will only allow you on four basic parameters

1. Account assignment category

2.material group

3.plant

and 4.Value . ( it is also a difference between without classification and with classification .In with classification you can use more parameters )

Hi Jana ,

1) what is the difference between with classification and without classification? -- With classification includes defining characteristsc , classes and assigning the same. Thereafter linking the class to rel .grp. Use structure CEBAN and the fields to have maximum flexibility in defining the characteristics.

W/o classification - No usuage of the above setup and limitation of rel str setup based on Account Assignment category, Material Grp , Plant , Value .

2) why without classification is not there for purchase order? -- PO is an external purchasing document wherein once released it is send to Vendor. For further details contact OSS.

3) can we release purchase order item level ? if no, why ? if yes, how? -- No , PO is an ecternal purchasing document wherein once released it is send to Vendor. For further details contact OSS.

4) can we release purchase requisition item level ? if no, why ? if yes, how? -- Yes , Maintain the characteristics and classes but do not select overall release aginst document type and Release Grp.

Hi Ramesh,

Even in without classification for PR, we are assigning value in release strategy (determination of release strategy). So, what is the difference between with and without classification. kINldy explain me please.

Hi Jana,

With classification has more flexibility in determining the strategy and you make use of the fields defined in Structure CEBAN as charcteristics.

Without classfication has a limitation in this regard.

hi,

Don't get confused between with n w/o classification given for the PO and PR...

Few points to refer:

1. Two different procedures are available for requisitions:

a. With classification

With this procedure, requisitions can be released both at item level (i.e. item-by-item) and overall release.

b. Without classification

With this procedure, requisitions can only be released at item level.

Among above two, you can only use one at a time...

2 .For PO's:

PO's can be are released at header level only. Item-by-item release is not possible here. These documents can only be released using the release procedure with classification.

So, as per your question, PO can be released at header level only while PR can be released either at header or at item level...
