Dear EXperts,
i wanted to understand how data is being selected by planning function for changing.
For example i have CUBE-1 with below requests
REQ1
REQ2
REQ3
APO- This is the planning request which has run for the above three requests.
later i have loaded another three
REQ4
REQ5
REQ6
so my doubt is when i run the planning sequence with the planning function will that run for 4, 5 6 requests are else
it will run for all the six right from first.
if yes then how to make this run for the requests which are not yet processed by the last planning run.
thanks and Regards
Neel
Hi Kamal
Plannig sequence(Functions) will always run on the whole infocube data selected by the restriction in your planning package. so system will read all the data of request 1- 6 and APO request

Dear Tripple,
Thanks for the info, then how to make small packages for the planning function to run, so that it won't give memory issues and dumps.
The problem is i have huge data in the cube and when the planning function runs in planning sequence its dumping, so i wanted to make small packages.
Please suggest me step by step, as i am not very through with planning function.
Thanks and Regards
Neel
Hi Neel,
you can use a filter for your planning function.
In planning functions, a filter on the characteristic restrictions describes the data for which a planning function is executed.
Selections in the default values are not consulted when the planning function is executed.
Check:

Hi Kamal
In planning you can not run planning function on selected requests, as i told you earlier that function run on entire data selected by the filter/planning package ( not data package). please check if you can put any restriction in filter/planning package to reduce data volume....
you can also think of running GPS(global planning sequences) in background by using process chain.
1. Create GPS - include all your functions
2. create an ABAP where call your GPS - standard FM are available like UPS_BUNDLE_EXECUTE
3. Include this prog in process chain

Hi Neel,
I think the program UPC_BUNDLE_EXECUTE_STEP may interest you.
You specify the planning sequence, the split criteria (ex : calmonth) and it will automatically execute the sequence value per value (ex:month per month). Thus, you avoid the TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED problem you generally have when handling huge volume of data.
see note oss 422998.

Dear All,
Thanks for the info,
But the suggestions you have given might be relating to BPS becuase when i when to the above programs and function modules i am not able to get my planning sequence name.
What is global planning sequence and how can create it, is it that only global planning sequence can be run in these programms and if yes how to include these programs in the process chain.
Thanks and Regards
