Hi Gurus,
In transaction TS01 I have an error:No differentiation was defined in Customizing for this position. The only differentation I see in customizing, refers to the Business Partner. Help would be appreciated.

Hi Victor,
You can have 3 types of differentiation crtieria - security account, security account group and portfolio. Differentiation criteria are the unique characterstics which will distinguish one position from another. These three are only the variable criteria's . The fixed criteria are company code, valuation area, valuation class, deal number and Lot ID.
Assuming you choose security account, then if you purchase same stock in 2 different accounts, you can see 2 positions in TPM12.
Goto IMG - Accounting - settings for position management - define differentiation
Define one as maybe "sec account" and assign terms "Security Account" from the list. You can also choose more than one.
Then in Assign differentiation, put "Sec Account" against the company code and valuation area.
Hope this solves the problem.
Best regards!
Sandip

Hi Victor,
For securities you need to set up differentiation i.e specify how to manage your positions. You can specify whether to manage at the security account level or at the security account group level. Derived business transactions and valuations happen at this level.
You have to define your differentiation and assign it to your product type in the customization node:
IMG -- TRTM -- Transaction Manager -- General Settings -- Accounting -- Settings for position management -- Define and assign differentiation.
