Hi,

How can we activate serial number validation in system?

We want to stop free text in serial number while doing outbound deliveries (here system should always check whether serial number was inwarded or not - if not system should not allow to make DC)

Currently lots of mistakes are happening due to this...

Hi Vishal,

It depends on which serial number profile (Automated creation or manual)you have chosen in the product master data. If that serial number has already been used for a product earlier system throws an error. With new profile across all processes, system validates if serial number was existed in system or via which document it is inwarded into the system and hence can be shipped to the customer. You can maintain your own number range of serial number with automatic assignment or assign an unique identifier for a product.

Thanks for enlightening on this topic.

But when we choose new serial profile, Product movement history / Tracking details gets clear (under registered product details)

This details are very important & can't afford to loose.

Currently many products have Mandatory Serial Number for PGI/PGR/STN.

This profile doesn't have validation.
