Overview of SAP ILM features including the corresponding NetWeaver releases?

Hi Community,

I'm looking for an overview of the features in SAP Information Lifecycle Management over time. Meaning a list of the features which were added with the different releases and SPs in the last years. I already checked the support launchpad and PAM. But as it is part of NetWeaver, I didn't find an overview which lists the ILM features.

Hello Martin,

All basic features of ILM are available in the above release you have mentioned.

The new features are available with higher releases/Sp as mentioned in the table.

With specific question on HCM, it would be good if you can contact HCM experts for answers.

I did some research now.

Here is my short summary:

My scenario is SAP HCM on a Business Suite System with EhP 6 and NetWeaver 7.0 EhP 3 (aka 7.3 if I got this version numbering craziness right, I'm still getting confused after working with SAP software since 2001).

As we want to use scenario with a WebDAV based archiving system, our NetWeaver version should be fine. We are missing some performance and monitoring features, but it will work.

The Information Retrieval Framework will not be available with this release.

In SAP HCM we will be able to start as well, as the archiving object for personal numbers HRPA_PERNR is available and the authorization object P_DURATION is also there. The ILM Blocking is not relevant for HCM. It seems, as most of the needed archiving objects are also available. I would really appreciate if somebody could review this and tell me if I got it all right!

thanks for your reply. I know the recommended versions. What I'm looking for is an overview in which we can see which release offers which features. I tried to find that in the SAP Help portal, but as ILM is part of NW and there are features which belong to the application as e.g. HCM it's not possible to get an comprehensive overview. The SAP Support Notes do also not really help.

Hello Martin,

The recommended release version for ILM is Sp12 of EhP7 of ECC.

SAP ILM is delivered as part of SAP Netweaver. Recommended min release would be NW 740.

Are you looking for any particular feature?

Thanks a lot for your answer!

I'm actually not looking for a particular feature. I just wanted to know which features are coming with which version. It's needed to decide if we are doing an upgrade or not. As an upgrade of an ERP system in a SAP landscape is time consuming and very expansive, I would like to base the decision if we need to upgrade or not on facts (like: this feature is missing in our version but we really need it). Just saying we recommend SP12 EhP7 without giving the reasons why doesn't help us in decision making. Another reason could be, that SAP will not down port new features to lower versions. This would be a good reason for an upgrade, too. But so far I didn't find any explanatory statement for this recommendation.
