Updating Sales Order on an MRP-generated Production Order

My company would like to (continue to) use MRP to generate production orders, but subsequently enter the Sales Order number against a sub-set of production orders where it is important to know who we are building it for.

SBO seems a bit quirky about this - it seems to allow it for some but not all MRP-generated production orders. I can't fathom out what the conditions are that allow it and the help files don't help.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Your requirements are clear. However, there aren't any fixed logic to satisfy your need. That is why you found lost when you can not do it. Simply speaking, Production Order and Sales Order would rarely have one to one relationship. If you run MRP, it is better stop that think to link them to Sales Order. Otherwise, you may not be able to take the most advantages that system has given to you.

    Thanks,

    Gordon
