Can we configure to send e-mail as precondition to the Job start?

We have a requirement that when a jobs gets triggered in Redwood (to execute ABAP program or Process Chain) , we need to send a e-mail to distribution list stating that "JobXXX started".

Please let me know if anyone has done this before and also if there is a way to get this configured in Redwood scheduler?

Regards

Neelam

    Hi Neelam,

Which version are you using (standalone or integrated, and basic or full version) ?

With the integrated version, you can run System_Mail_Configure to configure mail settings once, then you can use System_Mail_Send in the first step of a chain to send a mail that the chain started.

You can do it in parallel with the other tasks in the first step of your chain, or you can make a new step at the beginning which only sends the mail. If you have a single job definition you want to send mail for, you can create a small chain for this job definition to send the mail.

Yes we can configure to send mail but only in full version. In basic version we can provide the email id but the mail send function doesn't work due to license constraints.

      Hi,

In the standalone version you can run RW_MAIL_INSTALL once. This will generate scripts and so called destinations for you to use.

You can copy the standard script RW_EMAIL_NOTIFICATION, remove the references to the parent_logfile, to create a script to send a notification.

Or you create a script from scratch that calls the command line tool jcsmail/rwmail.

      Regards,

      Anton Goselink.
