Hai Gurus,

is there any standard Tcode for Transport System to send Request from development server ?

I mean any tcode & system there where ABAPER can create a request using his/her SDK number, Functional consultant will approve & release the request number and BASIS People can move that request from Development sever to quality or production server using SMTS tcode

Hi, maybe It is not what you mean. But you can create requests on the startscreen of SE01/SE10. Just choose <Request> <Create>. Succes

Hi,

I think what you need to do in your case is ask the functional consultant to create an empty transport request for each development, then ask the ABAPERS to create tasks within the request created and once they are done, ask them to release the tasks. Once all the tasks are released, functional cons can review it and release the transport request.

Another way would be to have the ABAPERS create the transport request as they do the develpoment and then release the task only , but change the owner of the request to the functional consultant.

Hope this helps.

Can you please share your thoughts how to create Empty TR? Are you referring that once the object is assigned to TR then take out the object manually?

Hi Amit,

No I dont mean you should remove objects manually from a TR.

You can create an empty TR as follows :

Goto Transport Organizer ( SE01, SE10, SE09 )--> Press F6 to create an empty TR.

Once this is created, use this for any further developments.

Thank you. Thatu2019s good.

But my question was why you follow this lengthy process of creating Empty TR and then Assign Tasks to them? Why not simply assign the TR while creating the Objects itself? IMO this simply means that you are playing with TR's, What if someone missed to attach the Task to one TR(Which they created a while before) and they tagged new object to different one. Nevertheless when you come to know about this then You cannot delete this empty TR else you might face Hole in your TR hierarchy.

May be For me Question is still Mystery

Hai Experts,

I was bored with using SE01,SE10. It is not user friendly too.

Why can't we create a Z Tcode for Maintain Transport request as per following requirements.

1) Abaper can only create a notification using Transport Request number with details like Afftected Tcode. requisitioner etc.

2) Coreteam member/ Functional consultant will approve that request number.

3) Basis will released that request after realesing in SMTS.

So we will get a record for Transport request.

Is there any possibity to link Z Tcode with SMTS.? So BASIS can release from Request from Tcode itself

Experts,

Kindly provide your feedback.

Hi Amit,

Yes, you do have a good point there. And that is why I have also given an alternative to this process, i.e. To allow the developer/s to create the TR and tasks ( imagine many developers working on the same object ), but he/she can only release the tasks and not the requests. Releasing requests would be the responsibility of the functional consultant after he/she has reviewed/ unit tested etc. This way a single person will have control of an object.

Lets take an example of a simple report program :

- Developer creates the program on saving system prompts to create/asign a request. Request/Task is created.

- Developer does his unit testing, releases the tasks and changes the owner to the functional consultant ( FC) who is actually responsible for the delivery of the report to the client.

- FC then reviews and unit tests and recomments some changes.

- These changes are done by another developer and this authomatically creates a task within the original request because the object is still locked in this request. He releases the task.

And this cycle continues until everything is finalized.

This way I feel that

- the changes to the prgram are controlled by one single person,

- it will keep the number of TR's down,

- it willl help to co-ordinate things and make life a bit easier during go live.

Also, I guess this scenario suits best if there are multiple developers working on a single object.

Yep I Agree.

Additionally, I would like to share with you a [Nice Blog from Uwe |https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/11882] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken];which certainly close to this and was nice reading for me.

And. This reminds me the comment from Thomas which was: Sit on the Lap of another Developer and Start code with four hands
