How do I determine which version of the ESS business package is installed?

Former Member

All,

I am working on a project to implement more of the services of ESS in our EP7 portal. We are still using the iViews that we were using with our 4.7 system. We have since upgraded to ECC 6.0 on the backend. I know we have installed a newer ESS business package but I am unsure of the version.

1) How do I determine which versions of the ESS business package is currently installed in my Portal?

2) Should I be using the SAP_ESS 600 version or the BP_ERP5ESS 1.0 version?

Thank you,

Brian Snyder

Hello Brian,

DO have a look at [this|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPHCM/HOWTOGETRIDOFSPSTACKMISMATCHISSUES] link to understand the compatibility of ECC support pack level and the ESS components that you should be deploying.

In order to confirm the currently deployed ESS package go to http://<server>:<port>/index.html, click on system information and then all components. Look for BP_ESS and SAP_ESS and the version number againstt it.

Thanks,

GLM,

Thank you for the quick response. I have found these values in the system info. It appears that I am on the Business Package 1.0 which is the correct version for ECC6. Would you agree? Should the BP_ESS and SAP_ESS be the same version or do they reference the BP version and JAVA version as explained in the version matrix ([Wiki Page|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPHCM/HOW%20TO%20GET%20RID%20OF%20SP%20STACK%20MISMATCH%20ISSUES]).

BP_ESS

sap.com ess/bp_ess 1.0 (2644194) SAP AG MAIN_ERP05VAL_C 20081210112551 sap.com/BP_ERP5ESS

SAP_ESS

sap.com SAP_ESS 600 SP14 (1000.600.0.14.1.20081110070105) SAP AG MAIN_ERP05PAT_C 20081210115457

Finally, what is the component name for the business package "common parts"?

Thank you,

Hello Brian,

The correct version for the ESS BP would depend on the component versions of SAP_HR and EA_HR which you have on ECC.

Currently in my landscape SAP_HR and EA_HR is on Release 604 Level 008 which means i am on ECC EhP 4 hence I am using BP_ERP5ESS - 1.41 SP3 and SAP_ESS - 603 SP3.

Depending on whether you are on just ECC 6.0 or have applied any Enhancement Packs you will have to check the release compatibility from the link I mentioned before. However if you are on plain ECC 6.0 then what you have depoyed seems just right.

If you search by the keyword BP ERP05 COMMON PARTS on service market place I am sure you will get it, if you dont do ping back and I will try and get the link for you.

Thanks,

GLM

Thank you everyone for your responses. I have awarded points accordingly. Yes, we are on ECC6 without an enhancement pack, so it appears that we have the correct components installed for ESS and MSS.

Thanks again,
