Signature Capture in MI 7.0

HI All,

I am working in SAP MI 7.0 and I wanted to know about the Functionality of Signature Capture.

I found Note - 897289 - in which it explains how to install/deploy the functionality.

My First Question is - What is this exact functionality? I mean what will I achieve with it, functionaly?

My Second Question is: Does it require a touch screen? I mean will it work on a normal desktop, I mean How do you capture a signature on a desktop.. I thought it was by using a stylus and literally signing your name against an order or something.

Kindly Clarify. It will be very helpful.

Thanks,

Ankur

    Hi,

i think you can develop the same application even in desktop also..

You can write an applet to capture the signature as an image

as you can capture the signature in a jpg or any other format and upload it..

    Regards

      Hi Ankur,

I'll try to answer some of your questions.

Signature capturing is mostly used in mobile filed service applications. It is used for authorizing the payment, verifying the delivery or service or just identifying the person performing the task. All of these uses of mobile signature capture are used to provide a further level of confirmation that the person signing is authorized.

The user can sign on the touchscreen for the authorization.

In the backend database, the signature will be stored in the form of BLOB data.

Only OCA client and LAPTOP clients support BLOBs so if you are using JSP client you can write an applet to capture the signature image and you need to convert it into Base64 format.

      Best Regards,

      Dhanya
