BWA - TREXADMIN Host memory consumption on Summary tab

Hello Guys,

I would like to clarify some stats shown on the summary tab of the TREXADMIN transaction code.

We are trying to make sure we do not exceed 50% of memory of the main memory available as per the rule of thumb from SAP. But at the same time are trying to interpret the memory stats shown on the summary tab.

In the transaction code TREXADMIN Summary tab, there is a "Hosts" breakdown where there is a section for Memory and it shows up with certain values and percentage.

At the same time, there is a "Indexes" breakdown where the size is explained in terms of both memory and disk value.

As per one of the OSS Notes from SAP, it was mentioned to use disk value for any sizing analysis. Whereas, the value in Hosts breakdown shows up already being 32 percent whereas the actual disk value is 9.4 GB. So, both these doesn't match up...

So, please let me know if there is any detailed documentation in this regards.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Dharma.

    Hello Dharma,

interresting is only the real memory consumption which you can find via top on OS or in trexadmin Landscape -> Host -> Memory.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Dharma,

Actually the most important size data is shown in python tool, not in BW side. For example, the data mentioned in SAP note 1348190 is displayed in python tool, and you can also refer to the 'disk size' in tab 'Reorg'->'Usage By Service II'.

For the ABAP side, here I just explain some useful things for you.

The 'Memory' in 'Summary''s 'Hosts' section means (Physical memory used + Swap memory used) / total physical memory size.

And the information for physical memory used and swap memory used you can refer to the tab 'Hosts'->Memory in ABAP side.

But about the 50% limition, you shouldn't regard this one as KPI. For the 50% limition, you must depend on the data of 'Disk Size' or 'SUM ("Disk Size [kB]")' in tab 'Usage'.

In addition, although the 'Memory' in 'Summary''s 'Hosts' section is somehow like a real time value, but it's not accurate. So if you really need to know the real-time data you need see the tab 'Services'->'Load' in python tool.

In a word, ABAP can provide you some simple information of BWA, but for many important and useful information it's better to use python admin tool. Actually I also suggest customer granting this authorization to some of BW admin.

I wish my answer help you clear some concepts.

    Best Regards,

    Joseph
