Hi,
BR0699I Reading log file E:\oracle\DES\sapbackup\backDES.log ...
BR0730W No appropriate backup created since 2009-07-23 00.00.00 found in E:\oracle\DES\sapbackup\*backDES.log*
Can you please check if you have this file present phically .. also check in E:\oracle\DES\sapbackup\ if you have old backups (sort files created date wise..) ..
For consistent backup, you need to have all off line redo log files..
Same thing can be checked from SAP DB12 > Recovery reports..
thanks

Hello All,
I am facing the same issue as Jose.
Our QAS system crashed due to SAN issues and we decided to restore the backup. I have installed the new ECC 6.0 system and later trying to restore with the backup we had a week before. I have changed the int<SID>.sap and copied the backup.and file also but still the issue is same. The options selected are as follows

All of your backups are online and not online_cons
I see four backups and for any ot the backups do you have any archive logs
In the and file it will mention the archive log first and and last ones
If you happen to have any archive logs which were generated after that number then possibly you can try to recover.

If you do not have any consistent backup then you are in trouble.
without a consistent backup you cannot do a complete database recovery.
without a consistent backup you have NOTHING!, a lot of datafiles in a consistent stated that cannot be opened properly.
When will the people realize that it is not enough to "make backups", the important is to be able to restore/recover with those backups.
Sorry, but your backup is useless

It seems that this logfiles does not contain a consistent backup.

I look at hard disk and I have all datafiles backup.

What kind of backup you have?
Whole online database backup to local disk? Do you have redolog backup? You can try point-in-time recovery then.
Does your initSID.sap file contain the backup location ?
Check the link below..

hi,
I assume that the problem is the type of backup available:
i take a look at the last 3 letters (and the [documentation|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/0d/d30ec54a0c11d182b80000e829fbfe/content.htm])
a: Whole database was backed up (backup_mode = all|all_data).
n: The backup was performed online (backup_type = online|online_cons|online_split|online_mirror).
d: Local disk (backup_device_type = disk|disk_copy|disk_standby).
The important one is the second one. The backup type could be
> online|online_cons|online_split|online_mirror
but at the end of the line it specifies which one is:
> bebfzbdx and 2009-08-14 12.35.37 2009-08-14 13.28.26 5 ............... 44 26 0 1399 13648585 0 0 ALL online disk -
c 7.00 (18)
An Online backup is not a consistent one (you should have done an "online_cons"
I have to say that I used BRRESTORE a million years ago so I'm not much familiar with it anymore. But lets check what the [documentation |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/cd/80e67d94460e4fb0b3e9ca89967e47/frameset.htm]says.
you are trying to do a [whole database reset|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/f1/9d0712466515469d42b8c2c6aeb669/content.htm] (extension of the log file drs)
Probably for that reason it ask for a consistent backup (that you do not have as mentioned before)
Well, may be you should choose other option but may be interesting to know what problems you have to start the database
> I have a problem with my SAP system, database no startup
and depending on the problem we may help to solve without recovery or you may choose instead the option "[Complete database recovery|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/73/029e8ddd57f5408b62204da040bf8e/content.htm]" in which you will not need a CONSISTENT backup

new information while I was posting.
You are in BIG trouble.
You only have an ONLINE backup and
> some redologs, but not all
Do you have all redolongs generated in the time between the online backup was started and finished?
If you do not have them all, then the backup is useless.
If you have ALL then you can do a PIT recovery (read the BRRECOVER [documentation|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/33/87a687da77cb4486422f47cb816a9c/content.htm])
Hi ,
Please try to restore by the commandline :
1) brrestore -r <utlfile> -b <backup ID> -m full -c
2) if you have the archive logs backed up then you use the following command at sql for recovery
RECOVER AUTOMATIC DATABASE UNTIL TIME 'YYYY-MM-DD:HH:MM:SS' USING BACKUP CONTROLFILE;
3) After a successful recovery atleast recover the databse for the time the backup ran the do a reset logs by controlfiles trace.
If you donot have a trace of the controlfile then you might have to make it manually.
Regards,
Debo
